Codru begins where all real things begin: with a place, a lineage, and a woman who refused to let old knowledge die.
Raluca Olaru grew up with the Carpathian forest as her backyard and her grandmother's plant knowledge as her inheritance. In Valea Zalanului, Harghita County, that knowledge was never abstract but practical, seasonal, embodied. Which plants to gather after the first frost. Which resins to render and which roots to steep. How to read the hillside for what it offered that year.
